THE DETAILS THAT MATTER.
For a useful quote, specify the diameter, pitch, overall and threaded length, material or grade, finish, quantity and packing. A drawing is helpful for nonstandard end details.

FROM THREAD TO
FINAL DELIVERY.
Dimensions, materials and order details to confirm before requesting a fully threaded rod quotation.
Fully threaded rods — also called all-thread rods — are straight bars with threads along their length, allowing nuts to be positioned at different points. LD Screw manufactures threaded rods and machined fasteners in Yongnian, Handan, China. A complete quotation request should identify the thread system and size, pitch or threads per inch, finished length, material and strength grade, finish, quantity and destination. See our workshop and send the specification required for your order.
Metric or inch: identify the thread first
Metric and inch thread designations describe different systems. Specify the complete designation from your drawing or purchasing list, rather than converting only the nominal diameter. Review the thread, mating nut, required fit and material grade together.
| What to specify | Metric example or field | Inch example or field | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thread system and diameter | M10 | 3/8 in | Similar-looking rods are not necessarily interchangeable. |
| Pitch or thread count | State pitch in millimetres, such as M10 × 1.5. | State threads per inch and series, such as 3/8-16 UNC. | Diameter alone does not describe the thread. |
| Thread tolerance or fit | Include the requirement from the drawing. | Include the specified thread class. | Matching nuts and inspection depend on the required fit. |
| Finished length | State the length and tolerance in mm or m. | State the length and tolerance in inches or feet. | Units and finished dimensions must be explicit. |
| Material and strength | State the material designation and required property class or specification. | State the material and applicable grade/specification. | A thread designation does not establish strength or material. |
| Surface finish | Identify the actual coating or treatment. | Identify the actual coating or treatment. | Colour alone does not identify coating performance. |
| Quantity and packing | State pieces, bundle/pallet details and destination. | State pieces, bundle/pallet details and destination. | This supports quotation, handling and shipment planning. |
The thread designations above illustrate how to describe an inquiry; they are not an availability list. For standards scope, see ISO 261 for general-purpose metric screw threads and ASME B1.1 for unified inch screw threads. Use the standard and edition required by the project. A thread standard alone is not proof of material, load capacity or certification.
Material, grade and surface finish
Tell us the required material and property class or send the applicable drawing. For a carbon-steel order, state the specified grade and whether a zinc finish is required; for a corrosion-sensitive application, identify the stainless grade or other finish your design calls for. The material and coating must be confirmed in the quotation, rather than inferred from a photo.
For other rod forms and finishes, explore the threaded rods and studs range. Our surface finishes guide explains what to identify when requesting a coating.
Packing and dispatch details
A long rod needs packing suited to its length and handling method. Share the quantity, bundle or pallet requirements, destination and any marking instructions. You can see wrapping and loading photos on our homepage; final packing is agreed for the specific order.
Common buyer questions
What is the difference between threaded rod and all-thread?
“All-thread” commonly describes a rod threaded along its length. Buyers should still state the required threaded length, overall length and end details. If a part has an unthreaded section, provide a drawing or review the single-end threaded studs page before requesting a quotation.
How should a US buyer specify metric or inch threaded rod?
State which thread system is required and copy the full designation from the drawing. For metric threads, include the diameter and pitch. For inch threads, include the diameter, threads per inch and thread series. Add the specified tolerance or thread class, finished length, material grade and finish. Do not substitute one system for another based only on an approximate diameter conversion.
Can I request matching nuts with the rods?
Include the nut type and quantity in the RFQ. The rod and nut thread system, diameter and pitch must match; the required fit, grade and finish also need confirmation. See our hex nuts page and send the mating specification with the rod inquiry.
Can I request cut lengths or 2 m rods?
Send the finished length, tolerance, quantity and any end-treatment requirement. If the order calls for 2 m rods, state that explicitly. The quotation will confirm the production route, availability and packing for that specification.
Does a silver or black product photo identify the coating?
No. Appearance alone does not establish the material or coating specification. State the required finish and any inspection requirement in the RFQ. Our surface finishes guide explains the information to confirm before comparing quotations.
What should I send to obtain a useful quotation?
Send a drawing or standard reference; thread designation and fit requirement; overall and threaded lengths; material and grade; finish; quantity; matching nuts or washers if needed; packing; destination; and any required inspection or order documents. Mark unanswered items as questions so the specification can be agreed before production. Send your drawing or RFQ.
READY TO DISCUSS?
