Grade 8.8 Hex Bolts supply options
Property class 8.8 defines a metric mechanical-strength requirement for carbon or alloy steel bolts; it does not by itself define the head style, dimensions, coating or structural certification. What does property class 8.8 mean on a bolt?
The designation uses 800 MPa as the nominal tensile-strength value and 0.8 as the nominal yield ratio. Actual acceptance values, test methods and size-related requirements must follow the applicable edition of ISO 898-1 and the purchase specification.
Are all Grade 8.8 bolts structurally certified?
No. Property class 8.8 alone does not establish compliance with a structural bolting system. Any project standard, certification, test or marking requirement must be stated separately.
What is the difference between DIN 931 and DIN 933?
DIN 931 commonly refers to partially threaded hex bolts, while DIN 933 commonly refers to fully threaded hex bolts. Current ISO references should also be checked on the drawing or purchase specification.
Can Grade 8.8 bolts be hot-dip galvanized?
The coating process, oversize-tapping or thread-fit requirements and any mechanical-property restrictions must be reviewed before supply is confirmed.
